Jersey Mike's Menu Calories: Every Sub, Lightest to Heaviest

Jersey Mike's Menu Calories: Every Sub, Lightest to Heaviest

Jersey Mike's menu calories range from about 470 for a mini cold sub to 2,210 for a giant Club Supreme, and the order is not always what you would guess. A Chicken Philly is lighter than a Turkey & Provolone, the tuna is one of the heaviest cold subs, and the chips and cookie can add more than the sandwich.

This post ranks every sub by calories at regular size, shows the mini and giant figures, adds the sides, drinks, desserts and kids meals, and finishes with the changes that cut the most. All figures are the published calories on white bread; for any custom order, the Jersey Mike's nutrition calculator adds it up for you.

The lightest and heaviest subs

The lightest regular is the #64 Portabella Mushroom & Swiss at 620 calories, followed closely by the #16 Chicken Philly at 660. Surprisingly, all five of the lightest regulars are on the hot board, because grilled meat with onions and peppers is leaner than cured meats with oil and mayo.

The heaviest regulars are the #9 Club Supreme (1,160), #8 Club Sub (1,150) and #10 Tuna Fish (1,050), all driven by mayonnaise, plus the #43 Chipotle Cheese Steak (1,000), driven by chipotle mayo. At giant size, the Club Supreme reaches 2,210 calories, the single heaviest item on the menu.

The Veggie is a common surprise. At 880 calories for a regular it is heavier than several meat subs, because it carries extra cheese and the oil from the Mike's Way finish.

Jersey Mike's menu calories by section

Looking at the menu section by section shows where the calories cluster. These ranges are for regular subs on white bread:

Why the hot subs are lighter than you expect

Most people assume a cheese steak is the indulgent choice, but the published Jersey Mike's menu calories say otherwise. The Famous Philly (730) is lighter than the Original Italian (930), and the Chicken Philly (660) is lighter than Turkey & Provolone (800).

The reason is what goes on top. Cold subs are finished with an olive oil blend and often carry several cured meats, which are dense in fat. Cheese steaks are grilled meat, onions, peppers and one cheese, with no oil splash and no mayo unless the sub calls for it. The exceptions prove the rule: the moment chipotle mayo or ranch goes on, as on the Chipotle Cheese Steak or Chicken Bacon Ranch, the hot subs climb right back up.

A typical lunch, added up

Here is how a few common orders add up, using the published figures. Most people order a regular with chips and a drink, which is where a 900-calorie sub becomes a 1,300-calorie lunch.

 • Regular #13 Original Italian, chips and a fountain drink: about 1,350 calories.
 • Regular #17 Famous Philly with a bottled drink: about 970 calories.
 • Mini #7 Turkey & Provolone with water: about 470 calories.
 • Regular #16 Chicken Philly as a Sub in a Tub with water: about 370 calories.
 • Giant #9 Club Supreme, shared by two: about 1,105 calories each.

How size changes the calories

A mini carries roughly 55 to 60 percent of a regular's calories, not the two-thirds you might expect, because the filling shrinks less than the roll. A giant is close to double a regular. So a regular #7 Turkey & Provolone is 800 calories, the mini 470 and the giant 1,520.

Hot subs and cheese steaks start at regular, so the lightest way to eat them is a regular rather than a mini. For a full size-by-size guide, see Jersey Mike's sub sizes and prices.

Sides, drinks, desserts and kids meals

The extras are where the Jersey Mike's menu calories quietly climb. A bag of chips is 220 calories, a fountain drink about 200, a bottled drink 240, a chocolate chip cookie 380 and a brownie 420. Kids meals use a kid-size sub at about 400 calories.

Put together, chips, a fountain drink and a cookie add 800 calories, more than a mini sub and close to a whole regular. If you are watching calories, the extras are the first thing to drop.

Bread and format: the biggest calorie lever

If you want fewer calories without changing your sub, change the format. A Sub in a Tub serves all the fillings in a bowl without the roll and removes about 290 calories from a regular, at the same price. A wrap adds about 20, so it is a texture choice rather than a lighter one.

Bread choice matters less. Rosemary Parm adds about 45 calories to a regular; Udi's gluten-free bread takes about 55 off a regular and 110 off a giant, for about $1.50 and $3 more.

Easy ways to cut calories at Jersey Mike's

In order of how much they save:

 • Skip the chips, drink and cookie: up to 800 calories saved.
 • Order a Sub in a Tub: about 290 calories off a regular, same price.
 • Choose a sauce-free sub, or sauce on the side: chipotle mayo alone adds about 270.
 • Pick a lighter sub: the Chicken Philly (660) instead of the Chicken Bacon Ranch (880) saves 220.
 • Go mini on cold subs: a mini is about 40 percent lighter than a regular.
 • Load up free vegetables: more filling, almost no extra calories.
