The Best Subs on the Menu, Ranked
Rankings are subjective, so this one gives reasons rather than scores. Disagree freely — the reasoning is the useful part.
The top of the board
The Original Italian earns its reputation, and it is the clearest demonstration of what sliced-to-order does for cured meat.
The Philly Cheesesteak is the benchmark hot sub, and the white American rather than provolone is a genuinely better technical choice — it stays glossy as it cools instead of seizing.
The Roast Beef and Provolone is the quiet pick: leanest, best protein ratio, and the beef is good enough to carry a sub without much help.
Underrated
The BLT. No deli meat to hide behind, bacon cooked in-shop, and under 600 calories. It is the sub people walk past.
The Veggie Hummus Wrap, which does not eat like a vegetarian consolation prize.
What we would skip
The Grilled Pastrami Reuben, unless your shop will press it. Unpressed, the sauerkraut steams the roll and it collapses — and it is the most expensive hot sub.
Bottled soda. It costs more than a fountain cup, carries more, and does not qualify for refills.
Frequently asked
What is the single best sub?
For most people, the Original Italian — it is what the chain does best. For value and nutrition, Roast Beef and Provolone.
What is the most underrated?
The BLT. It reads indulgent and is one of the lighter subs on the board.
Is anything genuinely not worth ordering?
The Reuben if the shop will not press it, and bottled soda over the fountain.
