Ordering for the First Time: What to Know
The line moves in a fixed sequence and knowing it removes most of the friction of a first visit.
The sequence
You order, the meat is sliced in front of you, then the sub moves down the line to be dressed and wrapped.
Because it is assembled in that order, changes need saying at the start. Asking for no cheese after the cheese is on means it gets rebuilt, which slows the queue.
Decisions in order
You will be asked roughly in this sequence:
- Size — mini, regular or giant.
- Bread — white is the default and what calorie figures assume.
- Cheese — included by default on most items.
- Mike's Way or custom toppings.
- Hot or cold, if the item exists both ways.
Worth saying up front
That you want it in a tub, if you do. That you want dressing on the side for travel. That you have an allergy — gluten-free rolls are stocked at most shops, though cross-contact on a shared line is unavoidable and a serious allergy warrants speaking to the manager.
